Frameleaf for Apple TV — your albums, memories and slideshows on the big screen

Get Frameleaf on the App Store · Apple TV guide

Frameleaf for Apple TV turns your self-hosted library into a living-room experience: browse collections, play memories and leave a slideshow running with controls designed for the remote.

Release highlights

  • Browse from the couch: Home, Memories, Places, Albums, People, Search and Settings in a dedicated side rail.
  • Photos and video together: open an item full screen, play a collection newest-first or shuffle it, and use server playback copies when needed.
  • Make a photo frame: choose display intervals, order, photo details, clock and sleep limit. Live Photos move once and short videos can play muted.
  • Play memories as shows: title cards, ordered items and music that gives way to a video’s own sound.
  • Start from the iPhone: choose Play on Apple TV from an album, person, memory or search page on the same network and Frameleaf account.
  • Fit the TV experience: Top Shelf previews, Siri entry points, Reduce Motion behavior and SharePlay for a collection you choose to share.

Requirements

Use tvOS 26 or later, a Frameleaf account linked to an eligible server, and a server plan that includes remote access. The TV requires that entitlement even on your home network.

The TV streams from your server. It is a viewing app rather than a phone-backup client or an offline copy of the collection. Keep the server reachable for playback.

Connect the TV

  1. Install Frameleaf from the same App Store listing used for iPhone and iPad.
  2. Open the TV app and scan the QR code, or open the displayed address and enter its short code.
  3. Sign in to your Frameleaf account and approve the TV.
  4. Choose the server if you have more than one, then open an album and play a short sample.
  5. Review the slideshow interval, media behavior and Let the TV sleep after setting.

Use Play/Pause to control playback, left/right to move between photos, up or Select for details and Menu/Back to return. Press and hold Select for supported actions on your own photos.

For Play on Apple TV, keep the TV app open, use the same account on both devices and allow local-network access. Frameleaf keeps the TV awake during playback while respecting the app’s sleep limit and the system’s usual behavior when paused.

Privacy and release feedback

The TV shows the selected account’s accessible library. Review the audience before starting a shared viewing session or SharePlay. Sign-out clears account-specific previews and the remembered slideshow; you can also revoke the TV in your Frameleaf account’s Devices page.

Reply with the app version, Apple TV model, tvOS version, server release and whether you were using Home, Direct or Relay. If playback fails, say whether the same original plays in the web app and whether a compatible server encoding is available.
