Your Frameleaf account
Your Frameleaf account is one sign-in for the account site at frameleaf.cloud, the Frameleaf apps and any server linked to it. You need one to use Frameleaf Cloud. You don’t need one to run a server.
Section titled “Sign in”Go to frameleaf.cloud/sign-in. After you sign in, the overview lists every server linked to your account, lets you open any of them from wherever you are, and holds your plan, billing, backups and AI credit.
The account site offers several ways to sign in:
- Passkeys, the recommended way. Add two or more, for example on your phone and your computer.
- An email code: a 6-digit code, valid for 10 minutes.
- A password of at least 15 characters, if you want one. Once you have a password you can add an authenticator app.
When you sign up, you agree to the terms and privacy statement and can add a display name. Sessions last 14 days and renew while you use them.
Confirming sensitive changes
Section titled “Confirming sensitive changes”Some actions ask you to confirm with a fresh passkey (or a new email code if you have no passkey). Confirming opens a 10-minute window. It’s needed to:
- link or unlink a server, or make someone an administrator of your server
- change how you sign in
- export your data, or change backups or licences
- close your account, or change AI Wallet settings
Your account pages
Section titled “Your account pages”- Security lists recent sign-ins, passkey changes and other security events. Sign-in locations are shown only as a shortened network address; Frameleaf doesn’t look up your city or country.
- Devices lists your Frameleaf sign-ins on each linked server. Sign one out to end it on that server.
- Profile has your name and picture. A picture is resized to 512 pixels and has its metadata removed.
- Privacy lets you export your data (the file is deleted within 24 hours), see and withdraw Cloud GPU consent, and see every action Frameleaf staff have taken on your account.
Sign in with Frameleaf on your server
Section titled “Sign in with Frameleaf on your server”Once a server is linked, it gains Sign in with Frameleaf alongside its own passwords and any sign-in provider you already use. At home nothing changes: everyone keeps signing in the way they do now.
Each person links their own Frameleaf account from Your preferences, then Frameleaf account. You never see their password. Your server learns their account ID, verified email, name, picture and access level, never a password.
Away from home, through the relay or a direct connection, every visitor must sign in with a Frameleaf account linked to their account on your server. Public shared links still work. API keys only work remotely if their owner has linked a Frameleaf account. See Remote access.
Link a server
Section titled “Link a server”Linking connects your server to your account so you can turn on cloud services. Nothing from your library is uploaded by linking.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”Whoever runs the server sets FRAMELEAF_CLOUD_URL=https://api.frameleaf.cloud and recreates the containers. Until then, the server shows “Frameleaf Cloud is not set up on this server” and never contacts Frameleaf Cloud.
Link from the Command Center
Section titled “Link from the Command Center”- Select Settings in the sidebar to open the Command Center, then open Frameleaf Cloud.
- Choose Link to Frameleaf. The server shows a code like
XXXX-XXXX, a link and a QR code, valid for 10 minutes. - On your phone or computer, open the link and sign in to Frameleaf.
- Check the page shows the same code, and that the server’s name, version and key fingerprint match what your server shows. It also shows the country of the server’s address.
- Approve with your passkey. If you don’t recognise the request, choose This isn’t my server.
You’ll get an email confirming the new link, with a link to undo it. A short tour then shows what you can turn on. Run it again any time from Frameleaf Cloud, then Account & link.
Link a server with no browser
Section titled “Link a server with no browser”- On the account site, go to Servers, then Add server, and create a link token.
- Set
FRAMELEAF_LINK_TOKENto the token in the server’s.envand start it. - Remove the token once the server shows as linked.
A token works once and expires within an hour.
Set up a new server from the app
Section titled “Set up a new server from the app”A server with no administrator shows an 8-character setup code and a QR code on its console. Enter or scan it in the Frameleaf app on the same network, and the server is linked to your account with you as its owner, with no server password. See iPhone or Android.
If linking is refused
Section titled “If linking is refused”| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| Your plan has no room for another server | Your plan’s server limit is reached |
| This server’s key is already linked | The server’s identity was copied from another linked server |
| This server’s ID is still registered | The server is still registered from an earlier link, for example after unlinking while it was offline |
| Your Frameleaf account keeps its data in another region | The server asked for a different data region |
| Linking was declined, or The code expired | Start again with a new code |
What your server sends
Section titled “What your server sends”The What this server sends panel shows every field. About every 5 minutes the server checks in with its version, uptime, storage and job health, its addresses, remote access status, permissions, licence state and backup and processing settings. Check-ins never include photos, videos, thumbnails, metadata, names, accounts or anything about the people who use the server.
What the cloud may do
Section titled “What the cloud may do”You choose what Frameleaf Cloud is allowed to do on your server: start a cloud backup run (it can never read, change or delete backups), turn remote access on or off, and refresh your plan automatically.
If the same server identity starts up in two places, cloud backup and Cloud GPU pause until you confirm the right server on the account site, or 24 hours pass.
Unlink a server
Section titled “Unlink a server”Unlink from Frameleaf Cloud in the Command Center, or from the account site. Afterwards:
- remote access stops, and everyone’s linked Frameleaf accounts are disconnected from the server
- Cloud GPU stops; queued jobs are cancelled and their held credit released
- scheduled backups pause. Existing backups stay read-only for 30 days and are deleted by day 90 unless you link again
- your plan no longer covers the server; supporter licences stay
- local photos, albums, accounts and sign-in work exactly as before
Share a server with people
Section titled “Share a server with people”The owner can invite people to a server from the account site, on the server’s Sharing page:
- Enter their email and choose a role: viewer, editor or admin. Administrators can invite viewers and editors; only the owner can make someone an admin.
- They accept with a Frameleaf account whose verified email matches the invitation.
- The first time they choose Sign in with Frameleaf on your server, they get their own account and library.
Being invited doesn’t show them your photos. Share albums, items or a shared space to do that. New invited accounts get the server’s Storage quota for invited accounts, unlimited by default, set in Settings, then Access & security, then Sign in with Frameleaf.
- Invitations expire after 7 days and work once. A server can send up to 20 a day.
- Removing someone, or lowering their role, signs them out of the server within about 30 seconds.
- The owner can’t be changed for now.
- Anyone with access can give a server their own private label on the account site.
Close your account
Section titled “Close your account”You can close your account from Privacy on the account site. Your servers are unlinked, your plan ends at the end of the period, and your backups are kept read-only until a server is linked again.
