Frameleaf Cloud

Frameleaf Cloud adds services that are hard to run from home. It’s entirely optional: a self-hosted server works fully with no account and no licence, and nothing on your server is ever locked. If you stop using it, your photos stay on your server and only the cloud-connected features stop.

Service What it does
Frameleaf account One sign-in for the account site, the apps and your linked servers
Remote access Reach your server from anywhere without opening ports
Cloud backup An encrypted off-site copy of your library, in a bucket only your server uses
Buddy backup An encrypted backup on a friend’s Frameleaf server, and theirs on yours
Cloud GPU Heavy AI jobs on rented GPUs, paid by use from your AI Wallet
  • It never holds your library. The cloud doesn’t store your photos, your server’s passwords, its certificate keys or your backup keys.
  • It never runs faces, search or text recognition. Those always stay on your server, and Studio exports always render at home.
  • It isn’t contacted until you link. Until an administrator sets FRAMELEAF_CLOUD_URL and links the server, it never contacts Frameleaf Cloud.
  • It can’t delete anything on your server.

If Frameleaf Cloud can’t be reached, everything local keeps working. Remote access, cloud GPU jobs and backup uploads pause with a notice.

Plan Price With a supporter licence
Frameleaf Cloud, monthly $9.99 a month $7.99 a month
Frameleaf Cloud, yearly $99.90 a year $79.92 a year
Extra backup storage $9.99 per extra 1 TB a month Not discounted
Buddy backup Included; no charge for storage on your buddy’s disk
AI credit for Cloud GPU Prepaid, from $20 Not discounted

A plan includes remote access, cloud backup with 1 TB of storage, and access to Cloud GPU. Prices are in US dollars.

Extra storage on a plan bought on the web is added automatically in 1 TB blocks, based on your peak usage in the period, and billed monthly even on the yearly plan. Backups never go read-only for being over.

Plans bought in the iPhone or Android app come in fixed storage sizes and are billed by the App Store or Google Play. If a backup outgrows its size, the owner is asked whether to move up. See When your backup grows.

You have one plan per account, wherever you bought it. A plan covers up to three linked servers for now.

Your services keep working through a grace period while the payment is retried. After that, remote access and Cloud GPU stop, backup uploads stop, and your backups become read-only. They’re kept for 30 days and deleted by day 90 unless you renew. Cancelling stops renewal at the end of the period you’ve paid for.

A supporter licence is a one-time purchase that supports the project and shows a supporter badge on your server. It never unlocks or locks anything on your server.

Licence Price Covers
Server $100, one time One server
Individual $25, one time One person on a server
  • 20% off Frameleaf Cloud plans while a server linked to your account holds an active licence. The discount never applies to AI credit, GPU time or extra storage, and doesn’t stack.
  • Buy without an account at frameleaf.cloud/store. The receipt has a claim link, valid for 30 days; claim the key by signing in with the same email.
  • The key is shown once. It looks like FL-SXXX-XXXX-XXXX (server) or FL-IXXX-XXXX-XXXX (individual). You can generate a new one from your account later.
  • One activation per key. Activate it in your server’s Command Center, or, for a server that never goes online, create a licence file at frameleaf.cloud/activate.
  • It never expires unless it’s refunded. If it is, the badge disappears within about a week and nothing on your server is deleted.

Supporter licences aren’t sold in the apps.

  1. Whoever runs the server sets FRAMELEAF_CLOUD_URL=https://api.frameleaf.cloud in .env and recreates the containers. See Environment variables.
  2. Select Settings in the sidebar to open the Command Center, then open Frameleaf Cloud and choose Link to Frameleaf.
  3. Approve the code with your Frameleaf account.

You choose which services to turn on, and you can unlink at any time. See Your Frameleaf account for the details.
